Why Meditate?

The easy answer is because it is relaxing. When life is moving fast, relaxing might seem like a luxury or even lazy. But, to keep up with the pace of life - or more importantly to find our own pace - we must relax. Humans are not meant to be on the go non-stop. It can’t be done without getting sick. Our bodies will rebel and shut down. Our minds will become cluttered and just won’t work well.

Regular meditation decreases blood pressure, stress hormones such as cortisol and reduces cholesterol. It decreases anxiety, depression and insomnia. It increases the anti-aging hormone DHEA and immunity functioning. Meditation enhances concentration, memory and the ability to learn. All just by slowing down, sitting down, closing your eyes and focusing inward. So simple!

Another reason to meditate is that in the silence as we learn to slow our thoughts, our inner wisdom emerges. When we calm the chaos in our minds, we are better able to hear our deepest desires and needs from our true selves.

Meditation makes us calm and grounded. When we do it regularly, our brains literally change so calm becomes our default state of being. You can actually become a calm, balanced person just by meditating regularly. This makes for our relationship with ourselves and others more balanced and calm, too. We experience less conflict because we are able to handle tough situations better. We become objective observers of situations and our feelings, which allow us to choose how to respond rather than mindlessly reacting.

Meditation is free and easy. Make it your superpower!
